Meredith Rahr (b. 2002, Sayre PA) grew up in a small town in Upstate New York where art was on the back burner. Despite being interested from a young age, she didn’t begin painting seriously until college because of these influences surrounding her. She attended Corning Community College (A.A. Liberal Arts and Sciences: Humanities and Social Sciences, 2021) before transferring to Savannah College of Art and Design (B.F.A. Painting, 2023) to better connect her creativity to her day-to-day life. During her studies she developed a unique approach to portraiture and figurative painting. Focusing on using UV reactive acrylic paint in conversation with traditional acrylics, she created new techniques to problem-solve the challenges faced. As she experimented, themes of re-engagement, intimacy, and self-reflection came into play. Painting under two vastly different spectrums of light allows multiple paintings to live on one canvas.

She currently lives and works in Buffalo, NY
